2-Step Opaque Material is the original method for transfer paper to dark garments.

This 2-step Opaque Material is a thicker paper that will leave a thicker heat transfer on your fabric. You will need this paper and also regular heat transfer paper for light colors to complete this process. This 2-step transfer paper can be used with both laser transfer paper, inkjet transfer paper, and sublimation.

For Heat Transfer (inkjet and laser):
Two Step Opaque transfers are perfect for providing a softer, less plastic feel. Just transfer your favorite transfer paper for light garments to the 2-step opaque material using the light transfer paper directions, then trim excess away from 2-step material (please note that opaque material is not compatible with cutter/plotters). Next, peel backing away from 2-step opaque material and position image side up on the garment and cover with a silicone/teflon sheet. Press at 375 degrees F for 20 seconds with firm pressure, remove silicone/teflon sheet while hot.

For Sublimation
Coastal's 2-step Opaque material is a great way to achieve the look and feel of sublimation, on a dark t-shirt! Just use your Sublimation inks and Sublimation paper to transfer to the opaque material. Press your sublimation print to the top of the opaque material (fabric side) at 400 degrees for 30 seconds with medium pressure. Then trim excess opaque material away (please note that opaque material is not compatible with cutter/plotters). Now peel backing off of the opaque material and position with the image facing up on top of garment. Cover with a silicone/teflon sheet. Press at 375 for 20 seconds and remove teflon sheet immediately.

About Opaque:

The Opaque Transfer Material is a thin white fabric patch used to transfer images onto dark fabric. Image your copier or inkJet transfer paper to the opaque material, then press the opaque material to the garment.
